Every day, exceptional work is happening across Texas public schools. The challenge is not whether it exists. It’s whether it is seen and understood beyond the walls of a single campus.
In a time when public education is often defined by headlines, perception can drift from reality. And when that happens, even strong schools and strong educators can lose the trust and support they’ve worked hard to build.
That’s why visibility matters. Not for attention, but for understanding. When we elevate real stories from classrooms and communities, we give people something concrete to connect to. We replace assumptions with insight.
The Teacher of the Year Award is one way we’re doing that. It allows us to highlight the kind of work that reflects the best of Texas public schools and share it in a way that strengthens connection and confidence.
This work is bigger than one award or one story. It’s about making sure the full picture of public education is seen, understood, and valued.
